Atlantic City runs around the clock, and so do a lot of the people who live here. At Uncle Sheldon Insurance, a concierge agency, our brokers help residents find health coverage that fits the way they actually work, whether that’s overnight shifts in the Marina District, a kitchen off Atlantic Avenue or a shop of your own.

We shop several carriers, confirm your doctors and prescriptions are in each plan, and handle the enrollment with you. Carriers pay us, so our help doesn’t change your premium.

When the Job Changes, the Coverage Does Too

Plenty of casino and hotel jobs in town come with health benefits, which works fine until the job ends, hours get cut or a property changes hands. At that point most people get two choices and not much time to make them.

One is keeping the old plan through COBRA continuation, which keeps the same doctors but usually means you pay the whole premium on your own. The other is a plan through GetCoveredNJ, where losing job-based coverage generally opens a special enrollment window of about 60 days. Depending on your income for what’s left of the year, state and federal savings can make the marketplace plan far cheaper. Sometimes COBRA still wins, like when you’re partway through treatment or have already met a big deductible. We lay the two side by side so you can decide before the window closes.

All Over Town

We help people in every corner of the city, from Chelsea and Chelsea Heights to Ducktown, Venice Park, Bungalow Park and the blocks up by the Inlet near Gardner’s Basin. Some are picking a plan for the first time, some are adding a new baby, and some just want someone to explain a bill that makes no sense.

Health insurance pays the doctor, but it won’t cover your rent if an injury keeps you off the floor for months. That’s where disability coverage in New Jersey fits in, and we can look at both in the same conversation.

Call with a question about a new job, a bill or open enrollment, and you’ll reach our team, not a call center.
