Do I Need a Medical Exam for Medicare Insurance?

No. There’s no physical, no blood work, and no health questions to get Medicare.

Original Medicare (Parts A and B). If you’re eligible, you’re in. Your health doesn’t matter.

Medicare Advantage and drug plans. Same thing. A plan can’t turn you down or charge you more because of a health condition.

Medicare Supplement plans. This is the one exception, and even here it’s questions, not an exam. If you apply during your first six months with Part B, there are no health questions. Apply later, and the insurer can ask about your health and decide based on your answers.

You may hear about a “Welcome to Medicare” visit. It’s a free checkup you can have in your first year with Part B. It’s optional, and skipping it doesn’t affect your coverage.
