Every San Diego retiree we talk to arrives with a different starting point. Here are the ones we hear most, and how our team approaches each.
Already have TRICARE or VA care? Many military retirees here do. TRICARE For Life generally works alongside Medicare rather than replacing it, and VA benefits run on their own track, so the enrollment decisions still matter. We walk through how the pieces line up before anything gets signed.
Moved here with a Medigap plan from another state? Your plan can come with you, but California’s birthday rule now applies. Once a year you can move to the same plan with another carrier without health questions, and we shop that for you ahead of time. There’s more on it at our statewide Medicare page.
Deciding between Advantage and Original Medicare for the first time? In La Jolla, Point Loma or Mission Hills, it usually comes down to which medical group your doctors belong to. Out in Rancho Bernardo or down in Chula Vista, the network nearest you may tip it.
Still have a spouse under 65? They’ll need a spouse’s own plan until Medicare, and we can set it up at the same time.
As your broker, Uncle Sheldon Insurance is paid by the carriers, never by you. Clients in Clairemont, North Park and Coronado keep the same team after enrollment, through every fall review and every birthday window.
